I2R and IPAL host Workshop on "Inclusive Smart Cities & Digital Health"

The "Inclusive Smart Cities & Digital Health" workshop was held on September 18th, 2017, at INFUSE Theatre, I2R (Institute for Infocomm Research), hosted by Prof. Dim-Lee Kwong, Executive Director of I2R, and Prof. Mounir Mokhtari, Director of IPAL.

The event had as Guests of Honour, Mr. Lim Chuan Poh,  A*STAR Chairman, and Laurence  Lochu,  Counsellor for Culture, Science and Education,  from the Institut Français, French Embassy in Singapore.  

The workshop brought together French and Singaporean Research Institutes and industry players in the area of Infocomm Technologies for Digital Health & Inclusive Smart Cities, with the aim of identifying key challenges and opportunities for collaboration in this area of increasing importance in Singapore. 
 
The event was launched by A*STAR Chairman, Mr. Lim Chuan Poh, emphasizing the importance of collaboration between I2R and IPAL, followed by a panel discussion chaired by Prof. Tan Sze Wee, Executive Director for the Science and Engineering Research Council (SERC) A*STAR on the topic <Infocomm Technologies for Health Care & Smart Cities>.

Invited participants from I2R, Systems X, PSA Group, Biorithm, Unabiz (SigFox), Axa Insurance, OgilvyRED, MoBike, Sanofi, Thales, EDF, among others, shared their views on the current challenges facing this area and their perspectives for the future on this topic.
 
The workshop included a technical poster session of ongoing research at I2R, finalized by a Technology Showcase conducted by IPAL in the StarHome, featuring IPAL’s live demo and a presentation of deployment of EU Projects in Singapore.
